Heidi Wahl

Cat 1 Mountain

Heidi is a Colorado native, who even though played competitive soccer most of her youth took the Colorado outdoors for granted until breaking her neck and back in a car accident during college. After that, she participated in everything Colorado had to offer – hiking, backpacking, telemark skiing, mountaineering, ice climbing, adventure racing, and cycling.  But it wasn’t until her 30s when she really focused her efforts on mountain biking. After meeting her husband adventure racing, she started transitioning into 24-hour mountain bike racing sprinkled with an intermittent road race. As much as she enjoyed road cycling, it was the flowy single track, technical terrain, and fast downhills that won over her heart. Now she participates in the occasional road race, usually of the Roubaix variety, but spends most of her time tackling challenging single track in Colorado and beyond. She hopes to add Enduro racing to her cycling resume in 2014.

Personal Goal: “To learn how to have quick starts and not lose ground so quickly in a mountain bike race only to have to gain ground later when it isn’t as convenient. Also, I want to help introduce more girls to mountain biking by building their skills, confidence, and interest in the sport.”
